The struggle ended with Tszyu knocked down 4 occasions, struggling his first concussion. He spent the evening in hospital, unable to sleep. “It was a weird feeling,” he stated. “What burns me is that I wasn’t able to show myself. I just got humiliated and embarrassed in front of the whole world.”
Including to the sting of defeat, Tszyu’s fiancée, Alex, endured vile abuse from trolls. “People say things to her and stuff like that, but the fact she’s able to handle it shows her character,” he stated. “Not to my missus, not to my family. That’s not right.”
Regardless of the setbacks, Tszyu stays defiant. “I don’t know how many times I got knocked down, but no matter what, I was always going to keep getting back up. I was ready to die in there,” he stated.
Now, Tszyu desires to reconnect together with his roots and Australian followers. “I want to take it back old school—no technology, no stats, no numbers. Just pure grind. I feel like I left my Aussie fans behind to chase the stars,” he admitted. “Australia’s always been in my heart.”
And he couldn’t assist a jab at American espresso: “You can’t get good coffee in Vegas. I missed my dog, my missus, the fresh Aussie air, and my local coffee shop.”
